Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has launched her own exclusive lingerie collection.
The sophisticated lingerie line includes knickers, stockings, suspenders and bras and is inspired by her own extensive collection of vintatge underwear.

‘There are so many vintage lingerie pieces I love that I haven’t been able to find in all my years of collecting. “ say Dita von Teese .
‘I wanted to design pieces that are tributes to my vintage obsessions, to make them beautiful and functional, while modernising them for everyday wear.’


Dita has designed the sexy collection for Target Australia.The burlesque queen says ‘It was important to me to accomplish the task of making these beautiful things in sizes that can make any woman feel sexy and glamorous, and I’m very proud that we have been able to do that, while keeping prices affordable.’


The underwear range is available in stores in Australia and online.
Murray Chenery, of Target Australia said: ‘Target Australia is thrilled to work with the talented Dita Von Teese on her first ever, worldwide lingerie collection. We have taken on board the sentiments of our customers to develop the range and deliver what they have asked for.’

He also added that he expected the company to expand sales of Von Teese’s underwear to other countries in the near future.

In an interview to promote the lingerie collection Von Teese also revealed that when it comes to getting ready for an event, she doesn’t hire a team to dress and style her. “I don’t want to judge people – I guess it’s part of their career, maybe they don’t have the time – but I really like the satisfaction I get from creating my own red carpet looks and doing my hair and makeup.”

“When people say that I’m just a dumb stripper, I’m thinking, wow, but you’re really giving accolades to these stylists, hair, and makeup people that get everybody turned out and I’m holding my own up there?”

Classic Vintage Burlesque – Jennie Lee

Jennie Lee was known thanks to her incredible bust as “The Bazoom Girl”. Lee performed her classic burlesque routine for over 30 years. “I had a natural rhythm and a nonchalant way of working – a smile and a little bounce,” she said when had retired “I was always sexy, but never vulgar.”

Volupte
Volupte is cabaret-cum-burlesque club, located, not far from Chancery Lane tube in the heart of the City.Held in In the basement it has some of the best cabaret talent in town from tables set beneath absinthe-inspired vines. Afternoon Tease combines burlesque with high tea most Saturday afternoons; other events look back as far as the Jazz Age for inspiration.

The Tassel Club
This burlesque events company holds its events at different venues all over London. They combine cabaret, circus and vaudeville formats with plenty of striptease.

Proud Cabaret
Modeled on a 1920s speakeasy, Proud Cabaret is an elegant new City destination which offers fine dining and entertainment in surroundings which exude the illicit glamour of a bygone era. Open Wednesday through to Saturday  guests can enjoy cabaret, jazz and burlesque as they eat in the style of a retro Hollywood supper club – with live bands and DJ sets continuing the party long into the evening.

The Whooppee Club
Sadly this club is no longer running but for many years its shows at the Bethnal Green Working Mens Club were the highlight of the London Scene.

Los Angeles – Burlesque clubs

Burlesque club nights in Los Angeles can be found almost very day of the week.
One of the most popular burlesque clubs is Bordello. Bordello has a rich sexy heritage as it is situated on the site of the oldest bar and brothel in Downtown Los Angeles. Seedy, dimly lit with chandeliers and an altar as a stage Bordello is a restaurant and night club that holds regular burlesque nights.

Monday Night Tease at 1123 Vin St is LA’s longest running weekly burlesque show. Each week presents the audience with a variety of burlesque styles from debut performers, seasoned performers, and out-of-town performers along with comedians, magicians, and all sorts of fabulous!!

Other places worth checking out are Skinnys Lounge, North Hollywood which has regular burlesque nights. And The Cutting Room on Sunset Boulevard which has a burlesque show every third Sunday.

Also look out for The Lalas, the city’s hottest burlesque troupe, led by creator and choreographer Erin Lamont they can be seen performing all over the city.

West Hollywood’s lingerie stores are also full of burleque style clothing. Try Coco De Mer, S&G Boutique or Agent Provocateur.

And if you get tired of LA’s scene head across the desert and check out the burlesque shows of Las Vegas – which are some of the most spectacular and hottest burlesque shows in the world.
