Jennie Lee was known thanks to her incredible bust as “The Bazoom Girl”. Lee performed her classic burlesque routine for over 30 years. “I had a natural rhythm and a nonchalant way of working – a smile and a little bounce,” she said when had retired “I was always sexy, but never vulgar.”
One of the hottest burlesque performers at the moment is Katrina Darling cousin of Kate Middleton.
Katrina Darling is the second cousin twice removed of Kate and Pippa Middleton.
Not shy of cashing in on her tenuous royal connections she has been gaining a large following thanks to her God Save the Queen burlesque striptease routine which she says she designed to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
And the freaky burlesque star is about to get significantly more exposure as she is now Playboy magazine’s September cover girl.?
Despite her patriotism Katrina Darling says she would probably turn down an invitation to perform at Buckingham Palace.
‘I’m very confident but I don’t think I could do it in front of Royals. I’m too afraid they would blush at my moves.’ she says.
Katrina says she has never met the Middleton sisters and spent most of her life unaware of her connection to royalty. She didn’t discover the connection until after Kate Middleton and Prince William were engaged.
Katrina Darling and the Duchess of Cambridge, are connected through Katrina’s grandmother, Jane Darling, who is the sister of Middleton’s great-grandfather, Thomas Harrison. ?
Katrina told the New York Post that she’d be happy if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came to see her perform, “but if they don’t, it’s not the end of the world.” As for an official statement from the Queen and Buckingham Palace, the New York Post wrote “A giggling royal rep had no comment on Darling or her burlesque act.”
Katrina’s provocative burlesque routine has upset some royalists and they have called for her to be punished. They consider her naughty striptease to be an act of treason. “Off with her head” they say. We say “off with the clothes!”
